The Docklands Stadium and the roof of
Festival Hall dominate this landscape. In it's heyday,
Festival Hall hosted sport on a local and international
level, boxing, volleyball, weight-lifting, gymnastics and
wrestling (both legitimate and theatrical), but to most
Melburnians Festival Hall means music. The roof almost
hums like a drumskin with the remembered melodies of
B.B.King, Sinatra, J.O.K., the Beatles, Daddy-Cool and
countless others (Bev especially remembers Roxy Music).
The new venue looms in the background, a coliseum for
competitions and concerts.
